What age is Hungry Chess for?
Children aged about 3 to 5, playing together with a parent. The last stage (special moves) is for age 5 and up.
Do I need to know chess?
No. Lesson Time tells you what to do and what to say at every step, and the app picks the next lesson for you.
We don’t have a chessboard.
Tap No board? on the start screen for a 20-minute guide to drawing one on paper. Toys and coins work as pieces.
How often should we do a lesson?
One lesson a day, about 25 minutes, around 3 days a week. Skipping a day is fine.
My child is finding a lesson hard.
That’s normal. At the end of each lesson, tap how it went. The app repeats the lesson in a new way until your child gets it, and moves on after a while anyway so nobody gets stuck.
Logging in
Do I need to log in?
No. Without logging in, progress is saved on your device. Logging in (free) backs up your child’s progress and shares it between your iPhone and iPad.
How do I log in?
Tap Log in on the start screen, answer the grown-up question, type your email, and enter the 6-digit code we send you.
The code didn’t arrive.
Wait a minute and check your junk or spam folder. The email comes from [email protected]. You can tap Send a new code; only the newest code works, for up to an hour.
Progress doesn’t match on my other device.
Make sure both devices are logged in with the same email and connected to the internet, then close and reopen the app.
How do I delete my account?
Tap Account on the start screen, answer the grown-up question, and tap Delete my account. Your account and the progress saved in it are deleted; progress on the device stays.
Purchases and refunds
Hungry Chess is sold by Apple. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account. To install it on another device, use the same Apple Account in the App Store; there’s no extra charge.
